Bespoke Pippy Oak Drinks Cabinet for a Private Client’s Garden Room

This bespoke drinks cabinet, crafted in pippy oak, was commissioned for a private client as the centrepiece of their garden room — a dedicated space designed for entertaining. We worked closely with the client’s interior designer and architect, both of whom had a clear vision for how the piece should sit within the space.

Their design intent was focused: the cabinet had to feel timeless yet distinctive, blending with the classic architectural detailing while making a strong sculptural statement.

Sculptural Form, Rich Character

The curved form of the cabinet softens the lines of the space, while the pippy oak adds visual depth and warmth. Sometimes referred to as burr oak, this timber is celebrated for its clusters of natural knots and swirling grain — and here, we carefully bookmatched the veneer across the doors to create a flowing, uninterrupted surface.

Built for Entertaining

Inside, the cabinet features custom shelving, bottle storage and internal lighting, tailored to the client’s entertaining needs. Everything is built to last and made to be used — with soft-close detailing, seamless joinery, and an intuitive layout that keeps the design practical and refined.

As the drinks cabinet sits within a space used for welcoming guests, it was important that it worked both open and closed — making a statement when in use, and resting quietly as an elegant piece of furniture when not.

A Collaborative Commission

From the outset, this was a true collaborative commission. The interior designer and architect brought clear direction to the brief, and we worked in close conversation to ensure the piece supported their wider vision for the garden room. As with many of our high-end projects, the success lay in the dialogue between design disciplines.
